“ELAPSE – a pocket-sized plug-and-play telemetry device for track and track-day drivers”

Project objective:

The objective of the project is to develop and launch the Elapse system — a complete solution for lap timing, performance analysis and vehicle telemetry, comprising a proprietary measuring device, a mobile application and a cloud platform.

At the core of the solution is a device combining a high-frequency GNSS receiver with an inertial measurement unit (IMU), supported by proprietary data-fusion algorithms. These technologies make it possible to determine lap times and vehicle motion parameters with significantly greater accuracy than solutions currently available in the amateur and semi-professional segments. As a result, precise telemetry — previously accessible mainly to racing teams with professional-level budgets — will become available to a much broader group of users.

The project will transform the previously developed MVP into a complete, tested hardware-and-software product ready for commercial launch.

Project scope:

The project includes, in particular:

  • development and optimisation of the ELAPSE telemetry device;
  • redesign of the enclosure and preparation for injection-moulded production;
  • prototype testing and validation of the device under real-life operating conditions;
  • development of mobile applications for Android and iOS;
  • implementation of backend infrastructure and cloud data storage;
  • development of the Live Race mode, enabling users to compete in real time;
  • development of social and gamification features, including rankings and challenges;
  • implementation of the Elapse Academy educational module;
  • preparation of the first batch of devices intended for sale;
  • promotional, marketing and sales activities supporting the product’s market launch.

Target groups:

The project is primarily addressed to:

  • drivers participating in track-day events;
  • amateur and professional motorsport enthusiasts;
  • car and motorcycle owners interested in performance analysis;
  • drivers seeking to improve their driving skills;
  • organisers of automotive events and communities.

The system architecture will also enable its future use in driving schools, logistics, fleet management and other areas related to driving-style analysis and road safety.

Project results:

  • a market-ready product: the Elapse measuring device together with a mobile application and cloud platform;
  • proprietary algorithms for processing GNSS and inertial data, improving measurement accuracy compared with competing solutions;
  • technical and manufacturing documentation enabling the launch of serial production;
  • confirmation of the product’s compliance with European Union market requirements;
  • launch of the product and acquisition of the first customers;
  • creation and maintenance of R&D jobs in the Eastern Poland region.
